Sometimes you arrive at the court alone. Your family cannot attend, your coach is elsewhere and nobody is available to keep score beside the net. That does not mean the match has to disappear into a final result.
With Match Update, you can play and record the points yourself from Apple Watch. The controls stay on your wrist, leaving the paired iPhone to remain the match authority and handle the normal saved and shared match flow.
Start on iPhone, then move scoring to your Watch.
Prepare and start the match on the paired iPhone, then choose Score on Apple Watch. Once the handoff is confirmed, the iPhone becomes a live read-only display and point entry moves to the Watch.
Basic scoring awards a point with one tap. Advanced Point Tracking uses two quick choices: first the player who performed the action, then the ace, winner, forced error or other outcome. The same tennis rules are applied on both devices.
When this helps
Use Watch scoring when you are playing without a courtside scorer but still want the people you invited to follow remotely, or when you simply want a complete match and richer statistics waiting after the final point.
Let someone follow, even when nobody can attend.
Share the player or the individual match before play. A family member, friend or coach can open Match Update on their own Apple device and follow the read-only score while you record points from your wrist.
Your Watch controls point entry beneath the paired iPhone’s authority. As accepted points reach the iPhone, the match is saved and published through the usual private iCloud sharing flow. Remote updates depend on Watch, phone, network and iCloud availability, so they may not appear at precisely the same instant as the point.

You do not need followers for Watch scoring to be useful. Advanced Point Tracking records how the points were won, not only who won them. After the match, you can review serve and return performance, winners and errors, pressure moments, momentum and the complete point sequence.
It is a practical way to build meaningful statistics from the matches you actually play, without asking another person to spend the afternoon tapping a screen beside the court.

When the match ends, the Watch shows the result and directs you back to the iPhone. Take over scoring there and finalize the match so its history, replay and statistics are complete.
