Scoring
Can I score without an internet connection?
Yes. Live scoring is local first and continues without a connection. iCloud synchronization and remote following resume when connectivity is available.
Can two people score the same active match?
No. The device that creates the match is its scoring authority. Other invited people can follow it read-only. If another device needs to score, create a replacement match on that device.
Can I correct a scoring mistake?
Use Undo and Redo during an active match. Finalized point-by-point matches preserve their recorded history; score-only and manually imported history can be corrected where the app allows it.
Which match formats are supported?
Match Update includes six built-in formats and reusable custom formats. It currently supports singles scoring; doubles scoring is not available.
Sharing and live following
What can a follower see?
A follower can see the live scoreboard, elapsed time, current points, statistics and momentum. Followers cannot enter points, use Undo or Redo, or change the active match.
Can I share only one match?
Yes. You can share an individual match, or share a player profile with its published match history. Sharing is private and requires an accepted Apple iCloud invitation.
Can someone follow from a web browser or Android device?
No. Live following currently happens inside Match Update on a supported Apple device. There is no public match link or public match discovery.
Which notifications are available?
After system notification permission is granted, managers and followers may receive notifications when a match starts, a set completes and a match completes. Notifications are convenience signals; opening the app refreshes the authoritative state.
iCloud synchronization
Match Update uses two private Apple services: synchronization across devices using the same Apple Account, and explicit CloudKit sharing with invited people using other Apple Accounts. The developer does not operate a synchronization server.
Check Settings → Shared Data → iCloud Sync for account and network availability, recent transfer times and the latest synchronization error.
Exporting and deleting your data
How do I make a backup?
Open Settings → Data → Import / Export. A Complete Archive preserves profiles, avatars, opponents, formats, relationships, matches and point history. Player Matches exports a portable history for one player.
How do I delete Match Update data?
Open Settings → Data → Delete Data. “Delete Synced Data Everywhere” removes owned or accepted sharing zones and local data, then propagates deletion through iCloud. “Delete Local Data Only” removes the local database on the next cold launch and allows synchronized data to return.
How do I stop sharing?
The owner can use Manage People or Stop Sharing. A follower can unfollow. Once access removal is confirmed, shared local copies are removed without changing the owner’s data.
If a live score is not updating
- Confirm that both devices are online and signed in to iCloud.
- Keep the Following screen open for a few seconds.
- Return to the shared player or match, then open it again.
- Pull to refresh where available.
- Check Settings → Shared Data → iCloud Sync for an account, network or transfer error.
