1. Overview

This policy explains how Match Update handles information when you use the app and this website. “Match Update,” “we,” and “the developer” refer to the provider of the Match Update application.

2. Data created in the app

You choose what to enter. Depending on how you use Match Update, app data may include:

• Player names, birth dates used to derive tennis categories, and avatars.
• Opponent names and aggregate match statistics.
• Match dates, formats, scores, elapsed time, point history, notes, surfaces and status.
• Saved venues or locations associated with matches.
• Custom match formats and scoring preferences.
• An app-generated random installation identifier used to keep one device authoritative while scoring an active match.

This information is stored locally on your device using Apple platform storage. The developer cannot remotely view local data.

3. Location

Match Update asks for foreground “When In Use” location permission only after you choose Use Current Location. It obtains one current position so you can associate a location with a match. It does not continuously or in the background track your location.

You can enter or search for a venue without granting current-location permission. You can change location permission at any time in system Settings.

4. iCloud synchronization and sharing

Devices using the same Apple Account

If iCloud is available, Apple CloudKit can synchronize profiles, opponents, saved formats and match history between your devices using the same Apple Account.

Sharing with other people

When you explicitly share a player or match and another person accepts, Apple CloudKit stores and distributes the shared records. Shared data may include profile information, match state, scores, point history, custom-format rules, notes and a saved match location.

Owners choose who is invited. Depending on the permission granted, invited people may manage a shared player or follow it read-only. An active match remains editable only by the device that created it.

Apple services

iCloud, CloudKit, system sharing and notifications are provided by Apple and are governed by your agreements with Apple and Apple’s Privacy Policy. The developer does not receive your iCloud credentials.

5. Notifications

If you grant system permission, Match Update may use Apple push notification infrastructure to notify invited managers and followers that a match started, a set completed or a match completed. You can disable notifications in system Settings. Notifications are not used for advertising.

6. Retention, export and deletion

Local records remain until you delete them or remove the app and its local data. Synchronized and shared records remain in iCloud according to your actions and Apple’s service operation.

• Export: Settings → Data → Import / Export can create a player-history file or a complete archive.
• Delete everywhere: Settings → Data → Delete Data → Delete Synced Data Everywhere removes owned or accepted sharing zones and local models, then allows iCloud synchronization to propagate deletion.
• Delete locally: Delete Local Data Only removes the local database on the next cold launch without deleting the iCloud replica; synchronized data may return.
• Stop sharing: Owners can stop sharing and followers can unfollow. Confirmed removal deletes shared local copies from participant devices while leaving the owner’s private data unchanged.

Because the developer cannot access your private iCloud database, most access, export and deletion choices are performed directly in Match Update or through your Apple Account settings.

7. Children and family use

An adult may choose to create a player profile for a child and share it with trusted people. The developer does not knowingly collect that information on developer-operated servers. The person creating and sharing the profile is responsible for choosing appropriate information and participants.

8. Security

Match Update relies on Apple platform security, local application storage and iCloud access controls. No electronic storage method can be guaranteed completely secure. Protect your device, Apple Account and exported archive files, and share only with people you trust.

9. This website

The initial Match Update website is static. It does not use advertising trackers, analytics, account login, contact forms or non-essential cookies. If you email support, your email provider and ours process the message so we can respond. Support correspondence is retained only as reasonably needed to resolve the request and maintain necessary records.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when Match Update’s features or legal obligations change. The effective date at the top identifies the latest version. Material changes will be reflected on this page and, where appropriate, in the app.
